ARTango brings great movie melodies to life
On Sunday, November 22, 2026, ARTango transforms the Michael-Beheim-Saal of the historic Baukelter in Weinsberg into a sound space between cinema, tango, and world music. The program Great Movie Tunes connects well-known film melodies with South American rhythmic feels, French chanson, and virtuosic jazz aesthetics.
When the mind's cinema hears the first note
ARTango takes the audience on a musical journey through iconic film scenes. The arrangements translate great melodies into a distinctive ARTango sound: sometimes melancholic and floating, sometimes spirited like a samba, sometimes elegant and bittersweet in the musette waltz. This creates a live atmosphere where familiar themes suddenly take on new colors.
Tango, Samba, and French Chanson
The repertoire includes, among others, Tonight from West Side Story in samba form, the Bossa Nova Manhã de Carnaval from Orfeu Negro, and Astor Piazzolla's Libertango, known from the film Frantic. The tension-filled soundscapes of Dr. No and Mission: Impossible also receive a distinctive new dramaturgy as tango nuevo arrangements.
Four musicians, one cinematic sound
Jürgen Häussler on saxophone and flute, Thomas Ott on accordion, Michael Nessmann on guitar, and Helmut Siegle on double bass create the stage performance with precise synchronization and great stylistic agility. The orchestration of the quartet allows film music to appear transparent and immediate: breath, bow, string attack, and double bass merge into a vibrant sound.
Between Paris and Buenos Aires
With Sous le ciel de Paris and La vie en rose, ARTango opens a window to France. French chanson meets the rhythmic language of South America, creating the tension-rich mix that characterizes the concert. The result is not just a mere film music revue, but an independent musical narrative full of movement, emotion, and surprising twists.
The Baukelter as an atmospheric concert setting
The Baukelter is one of the defining cultural venues of Weinsberg. The historic press house, whose history dates back to the 16th century, offers a distinctive frame for the concert experience. In the Michael-Beheim-Saal, architectural history and modern stage performance meet – a fitting place for music that evokes memories of great screen moments.
Conclusion: An evening of concert for film and music lovers
ARTango invites you to an evening where familiar film melodies, tango, samba, bossa nova, and French chanson merge together. Those who want to not only hear great themes but experience them in new sound colors will find an intense concert experience full of atmosphere at Great Movie Tunes.
