Kyiv Symphony Orchestra brings great sound colors to Heilbronn

On Friday, November 27, 2026, the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra will perform at the Theodor-Heuss-Saal of Harmonie Heilbronn. Under the direction of Jascha von der Goltz, the orchestra combines classical-romantic symphony, American sound world, and Ukrainian contemporary music into a versatile concert night. The soloist on piano is Dmytro Choni.

Between Sea Images and Nocturnal Sound Poetry

The concert evening begins with Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's concert overture The Hebrides op. 26. In this musical landscape, moving strings, dark woodwind colors, and dynamic wave movements come together. This is followed by the world premiere of Dmytro Pashynsky's Starry Night, which expands the program with a contemporary perspective.

Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue with Dmytro Choni

George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue brings together classical orchestral tradition and jazz idiomatic. Dmytro Choni shapes the solo part with technical precision, clear articulation, and virtuoso stage presence. Between syncopated rhythms, pronounced wind player contributions, and lyrical passages, a concert moment full of tension and elegant movement emerges.

Brahms to Conclude

Johannes Brahms' Symphony No. 2 in D major op. 73 forms the grand conclusion. Its warm string sound, the finely balanced orchestration, and the alternating lyrical and powerful passages demand precise synchronization and confident conducting. Jascha von der Goltz stands for a precise, energetic interpretation with captivating stage performance.

An Orchestra as a Cultural Voice of Ukraine
