Berlin Philharmonic brings musical New Year's magic to Heilbronn

Comfortable cinema seat instead of concert hall, grand orchestral sounds instead of end-of-year stress: On December 31, 2026, the audience at Kinostar Arthaus Heilbronn will experience the New Year's Concert of the Berlin Philharmonic live on the cinema screen. Kirill Petrenko conducts a program full of wit, elegance, and musical surprises.

With Humor and Irony into the New Year

The concert combines orchestral precision with sparkling stage humor. Otto Nicolai's overture to The Merry Wives of Windsor opens the evening with vigor. Dmitri Shostakovich's concerto for piano, trumpet, and string orchestra brings Alexander Malofeev on piano and David Guerrier on trumpet together. The unusual instrumentation lends the work a pointed sonority between concert parody, virtuosity, and rhythmic tension.

Prokofiev's Classic Masquerade

Sergei Prokofiev's Classical Symphony plays with the traditions of Viennese Classicism. Lightness, dance-like accents, and sharply defined contrasts meet modern orchestration. Under Petrenko's direction, a sound image emerges that combines classical forms with sprightly irony.

Till Eulenspiegel Dances through the Cinema

Richard Strauss’ Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks subsequently ignites a fireworks display of orchestral colors. Horns, strings, and woodwinds portray the pranks of the title character with energy, grotesque humor, and great sonic precision. To conclude, Johann Strauss’ overture to The Gypsy Baron sets a festive accent.

Live Atmosphere on the Cinema Screen

The transmission brings conducting, orchestra, and soloists in large format and concert sound to Heilbronn. Close-ups make the synchronization of the musicians visible, while the cinema technology makes the orchestral sound immediately tangible. This creates a unique concert experience between classical concert culture and modern live transmission.

Conclusion: Classical Music with a Wink for the New Year's Transition

The New Year's Concert of the Berlin Philharmonic combines great symphonic music, virtuosic solo parts, and cheerful musical pranks. Those who want to start the New Year in style, sound, and with a special live atmosphere will experience a festive concert evening at Kinostar Arthaus Heilbronn with Kirill Petrenko, Alexander Malofeev, and David Guerrier.
