Nordic Christmas Sounds in Kilianskirche

On November 28, 2026, the Danish vocal ensemble Concert Clemens from Aarhus will perform in the series Hour of Church Music in Heilbronn. The Kilianskirche will resonate with a spiritual Advent program featuring Hugo Distler's The Christmas Story as well as works by Scandinavian composers.

Between Advent, Choral Sound, and Church Space

Distler's Christmas Story combines expressive text interpretation with clear vocal lines and an immediately impactful spiritual atmosphere. The program is complemented by Gravgaard's Veni, veni Emmanuel, Kongsted's Es ist ein Ros, and Seyer-Hansen's En rose så jeg skyde. The Nordic tonal colors blend with the unique acoustics of the Heilbronn Kilianskirche.

Concert Clemens from Aarhus

Since its founding in 1997, Concert Clemens has been working under the direction of Carsten Seyer-Hansen as a professional classical chamber ensemble. The 16 singers represent precision, warmth, and expressive spiritual choral music. The ensemble has won, among other things, the first prize at the International Choir Competition in Randers and the second prize at the Harald-Andersen competition for chamber choirs in Helsinki.

Soloist and Musical Direction

Tenor Adam Riis is involved. The musical direction is taken by Carsten Seyer-Hansen, who works as a conductor, cantor, and university lecturer for classical choral conducting. His work combines differentiated articulation, precise synchronization, and an intense stage performance in the church space.

A Festive Concert Experience

Audiences can expect an Advent live atmosphere between heartfelt Christmas story, finely tuned orchestration of voices, and Nordic vocal music. The clear acoustics of Kilianskirche allow individual vocal colors to stand out just as much as the large spans of choral sound.

Admission is free. Anyone wishing to experience spiritual choral music, historical Christmas texts, and Scandinavian sound traditions live will find a delightful start to the Advent season in this hour of church music.
