Rodney Smith and the Art of Controlled Wonder

Rodney Smith was born in 1947 in New York City and developed a photographic language that is often compared to René Magritte. His black-and-white images combine portrait, landscape, and surrealism into carefully composed visual spaces where lightness and precision meet. The artist worked with film and light, without digital retouching, creating a distinctive aesthetic that balances classical structural rigor with playful irritation.
