Life stories that build bridges
At the Story Café "Tell me your story!" personal memory becomes a literary encounter. People who have come to Germany from other countries share their life paths with an attentive audience. The evening at the Heinrich-Fries-Haus combines readings, conversations, and music into a compelling intercultural experience.
When biographies become narratives
For over ten years, the voluntary storytelling workshop has been collecting life stories from people around the world and making them publicly accessible in cooperation with keb Heilbronn. The presented texts recount stories of origin, arrival, loss, hope, and a new daily life. Their literary quality lies in the immediate language and in the closeness to the people whose experiences become visible.
Reading, music, and conversation
The reading gains an atmospheric framework through musical contributions. Following this, the evening opens up for an interview with the storyteller as well as questions from the audience. This creates not a distant stage format, but a special kind of author encounter: listening becomes the starting point for exchange and mutual understanding.
Literature as a space for diversity
The Story Café stands for a form of literature that connects cultural discourse directly with everyday life. Personal narratives complement societal debates about migration, integration, and diversity with the crucial human perspective. Those who listen do not encounter a buzzword, but a concrete life with its own voice, its own story, and its own linguistic artistry.
For people who tell or listen
The event is aimed at individuals with their own immigration stories as well as everyone who is curious about other life worlds. Even those who wish to support the project as an editor or musician will find an open access to the storytelling workshop and the cultural educational work of keb Heilbronn in the Story Café.
Conclusion
Visitors can expect an intimate reading atmosphere with moving life stories, music, and an open intercultural dialogue. The Story Café invites participants to not discuss diversity abstractly, but to encounter it live. Those who want to understand literature as a human experience will experience a remarkable evening here.
