Claude Monet
The famous impressionist painter Claude Monet (1840-1926) was able to transfer the colors of the open nature in changing light onto the canvas in an unparalleled way. His paintings of the Seine landscapes with their strollers bear witness to this. The artist is considered the founder and main representative of French Impressionism. He created series of images of motifs like the Cathedral of Rouen at different times of the day. From 1883, he lived in a studio house with a large garden in Giverny, where his later water lily paintings were created. The lecture will be held by Dr. Martina Kitzing-Bretz.
